Presenter 1: Your Personal Networking Plan, Amy Leneker
We’ve all heard the term but what exactly is “networking” and how do I do it?  This session is for introverts and extroverts and everyone in between.  Amy Leneker is the Leadership and Development Director for the Department of Enterprise Services. She’ll cover networking basics. Participants will leave with an individualized networking action plan.
Presenter 2: Building Trust Between Management and Employees, Wendy Frazer
Healthy relationships between management and employees is a pillar in fostering productive culture. This session focuses on understanding behaviors that build or erode trust between the two groups.
Wendy has worked in HR and held management and employee training positions for state government and in her own consulting company for 27 years.
Lunch and Learn with Meg Martin, Interfaith Works
As part of its work in public outreach, ICSEW regularly collects items for charities in local communities. The charity ICSEW is collecting for in 2018 is Interfaith Works. Meg Martin, the Program Director of the Interfaith Works Emergency Shelter will be speaking to us about the amazing work it does in our community.
Interfaith Works continues its 27-year history of sheltering homeless adults in Thurston County, with improved program design to better serve the most vulnerable adults living on our streets. Their mission is to advance the social inclusion and empowerment of the homeless through innovative practices of sheltering, mental health and emergency basic needs coordination. The shelter continues to function at a 100 percent occupancy rate.
Meet Your Business Resource Groups: We are pleased to bring you representatives from Washington State Business Resource Groups as well as OFM’s Statewide Workforce Planning and Strategy Manager, Ann Reiter.

  •  The Rainbow Alliance and Inclusion Network’s (RAIN), established by Governor’s Directive 16-11, focuses on advising and developing best practices for creating safe, diverse, and inclusive workplaces for our LGBTQ+ employees, allies, and customers.
  •  Veteran’s Employee Resource Group (VERG) is a cross-agency group of veterans and allies in state service to provide advice and assistance on veteran recruitment, retention, and development strategies.
  •  The Washington State Latino Leadership Network (LLN) is a group of state government employees who provide professional development of its members through networking, training, mentoring and coaching opportunities.
  • Two new BRGs are working to build their structure and share ideas about supporting Washington employees focused on people with disabilities (PWD).  BRGs will engage the experience, values and knowledge of people with disabilities in state government,     creating an environment where PWD can bring their full and authentic self to work.
  • WA Immigrant Network (WIN) will assist in expanding opportunities for immigrants who are current and future employees within Washington state government.

We are so excited to partner with these important groups to better serve Washington state employees.

2018 Toiletries Drive benefiting YWCA’s Other Bank
Let’s gear up for the annual YWCA Toiletries Drive.  The 2018 drive will begin on April 16th and will run through April 27th.   The Other Bank provides toiletries such as shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, diapers, and menstrual supplies to those in need, offering necessities of daily living such as dish soap, laundry detergent, and hand soap.  Products distributed by The Other Bank cannot be purchased with food stamps and are not available at food banks; yet they are essential for maintaining health and personal dignity. The Other Bank offers assistance to over 14,000 individuals every year. ICSEW will be collecting items at each represented agency to be donated on April 30, 2018. Start collecting now.
