Coleen Atwood
Coleen Atwood, not a common name to most of us, unless you are a slave to movie fashion. This talented woman was born September 25, 1948 in Yakima, Washington. Graduating from Cornish College of the Arts in the early 1970’s, she began dabbling in fashion. By 1980, Ms. Atwood moved to New York to study and by chance became a Production Assistant on the film Ragtime. Venturing into costume and theater design, she worked with Sting on the Bring on the Night world tour. The turning point for Coleen came when the designer met the film director Tim Burton. The two minds creating powerful images for nearly two decades and seven films including Edward Schissorhands, Big Fish, Alice in Wonderland, and Sweeney Todd. To date, Ms. Atwood played a partial or lead role in designing costumes on over 50 films. She is currently working on designs for television shows Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. Ms. Atwood, pushing the boundaries of film, costume, and career.
