On May 5, 2016 the Washington Military Department (WMD) hosted the 2016 Eastern Washington Public Service Recognition Week Event at the Spokane National Guard Readiness Center. Approximately 275 public servants from various state agencies across the Spokane area attended and had an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of their peers, receive information on benefits and programs, and learn about committees and organizations supported by state employees.
The Department of Corrections (DOC) Honor Guard opened the event, where employees enjoyed a hot dog lunch with all of the fixings as well as dessert. The festivities included a Cake Walk, Chair Massages, a Show and Shine Car Show, Cake Decorating and Best Salsa contests. Several local vendor booths included the Interagency Committee of State Employed Women (ICSEW), the Spokane Empire Football Organization, Spokane School of Massage and the WA State Employees Credit Union (WSECU).
The week was filled with celebrations and events all around the state, with award ceremonies culminating the honors. Mr. Mike Frucci, WA State Department of Transportation Eastern Regional Director, emceed the event and presented the Extra Mile award to the Employment Security Department, WorkSource Spokane WorkFirst team. Congratulations to this very deserving group!
A special thank you to this year’s event sponsors: WSECU, DOC, Costco, Public & Technical Employees Local 17, WSDOT and WMD.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the volunteers from various agencies that came together to make this year’s PSRW event a success!
