Gender Bias Patterns and How They affect Our Careers
Women still face adversity in the professional world. Often times, leaning in hasn’t been enough to overcome unconscious gender bias. Karen Griego will discuss four patterns of gender-biases and how to navigate the ways these patterns affect our careers. She will also discuss and provide tool kits with tips on:
- Searching for new roles
- Writing a winning resume and cover letter
- Preparing for interviews
- Building your network.
About Karen Griego: Karen Griego is a senior product marketing manager for emerging devices at Amazon. Having worked in the tech industry throughout her career, she is no stranger to being the only woman in the room. Because of this, she is an Amazon “Bar Raiser” (an evaluator of potential candidates across the company) with goals to have more women on interview loops and to increase gender diversity.
Griego has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington and Master’s in Business Administration from Graziado School of Business. Some of Griego’s past positions include: senior global consumer marketing manager for Amazon Alexa, Senior Americas Marketing Manager for Google Apps, and Marketing Manager for Amazon Consumer Electronics. Griego lives in the Queen Anne neighborhood in Seattle with her partner and two rescue dogs.
