Bill Alert SB 5105

In response to the rapid growth and use of artificial intelligence, the Legislature introduced this bill to expand Washington's existing prohibitions against fabricated depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct to include circumstances where the depicted minor is not identifiable.

This bill also (1) modifies the defenses, immunities, and statute of limitations applicable to certain offenses involving depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and (2) expands the conduct that constitutes Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

As part of its work, the ICSEW Legislative and Policy subcommittee provides Bill Alerts during the current legislative cycle. Its purpose is to inform state employees of pending legislation that may impact them.
