Bill Alert SB 5696
This bill would eliminate child marriage with the following:
- Marriage is a civil contract between two persons of any gender who have each attained the age of 18 years and who are otherwise capable.
- Every marriage entered in which either person is not 18 is void.
- Any person knowingly violating this section is guilty of a class C felony and shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000, or by imprisonment in a state correctional facility for a period of not more than three years, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
