Annual Charity Drive
In 2021, We’re Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence
Each year, our Public Outreach Subcommittee organizes a charitable project for a non-profit organization or community program.
This year, we are hosting a gift card and supplies drive for organizations working with victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence cases have spiked in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as lockdown orders place victims in closer proximity to their abusers.
Domestic violence charities are experiencing financial difficulties and struggling to provide resources and supplies. Furthermore, local businesses are reeling from declining sales and shortened operating hours. Through this year’s drive, the Public Outreach Subcommittee aims to support domestic violence charities while bolstering local businesses.
This year, donations will be directed to the following organizations:
- Safe Place, Olympia, WA
- Emergency Support Shelter, Longview, WA
- Turning Pointe Survivor Advocacy Center, Shelton, WA
- Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, Everett, WA
- New Beginnings, Seattle, WA
- New Hope, Moses Lake, WA
- YWCA Spokane, Spokane, WA
- YWCA Yakima, Yakima, WA
Any contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a difference in the lives of individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. We thank you for your support.
How to Participate
At this time, we encourage donating gift cards to local businesses that carry groceries, diapers and baby wipes, personal hygiene products or cleaning supplies. Gift cards to restaurants offering takeout are also encouraged.
If you would like to participate as an individual, purchase a gift card from a local business or restaurant and mail it to the organization of your choice. It’s important these charities are able to easily utilize your donation — please select a business close to the organization you are supporting.
To ensure safe, no-contact delivery, we ask that you mail gift cards to your chosen charity. If you aren’t comfortable purchasing a gift card in-person, refer to the list of businesses below that allow you to purchase gift cards online or over the phone.
If you are a local business and would like to participate in the drive, please contact our Public Outreach Subcommittee Co-Chairs, Jasmine Pippin-Timco and Debra Lefing. To be added to the list of businesses, you must offer gift cards for purchase online or over the phone. If you are unable to offer no-contact buying options, coordinate with ICSEW for gift cards to be picked up by a member of the organization they are alloted to. Lastly, businesses can choose to donate gift cards or needed items in bulk to the charity of their choice.
Western Washington businesses: please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Eastern Washington businesses: please contact email@example.com.
